GET Back to basics when going back to school

Updated: Aug 12, 2020

Change is in the air, you can feel Summer slipping away and turning to Fall and many are heading back to school and starting a new daily routine. These changes can be hard on both people and pigs alike. Check out these tips to get back to basics and help your pig adapt to new routines.

KEEP THEIR ROUTINE INTACT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

Pigs are creatures of habit and routine. Stick with the same feeding schedule, walks and/or outside time as much a possible. Be patient when changing their daily routine, as it may take time for them to adapt to the new schedule.

WHEN YOU’RE GONE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME

For indoor pigs, play some music or put the tv on low. The sound will keep them company and help them not feel alone or anxious. Provide plenty of activities (for both inside or outside pigs) to keep them busy with different levels that will sustain their engagement and attention. Make sure you provide enough water to get them through the time you're not home. Check out all our Pig Pal favorite IQ Toys on the OinkBox Store.

SPEND 10-15MINS A DAY TRAINING/ TRICKS

Go over things they already know or try teaching them something new. Training and tricks will help keep their behavior in check and reduce pig fits. Check out the Training Bundle with tips & ideas to help your piggy be their best!

GIVE EXTRA LOVE & SPEND TIME WITH YOUR PIG

Lay or sit with you pig and give tummy scratches, hoof massages, just snuggle or

play with them. They will love the extra attention! Get all your pampered pig items in the Spa Day section of the OinkBox Store.

TRY ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
